It’s always a thrill to see a new book take form and make it to the hands of readers. That’s why I’m excited to share the Christmas novella collection my coauthors and I have been working on for well over a year is finally available for preorder!
The four-story novella collection spans nearly a full century, from the late 1700’s to the Civil War era. The collection shares how a love of woodcarving and an heirloom nativity bonds a family for generations.
MY FIRST NOVELLA COLLECTION
This being my first novella collection, it was such fun to read through all four stories for the first time from start to finish and see how my coauthors and I intertwined the four generations of Hawkins men and their gift of carving wood.
My story, A Lasting Legacy, falls second in line and tells the tale of Daniel and Maggie Hawkins. Set during a lesser-known time period in America’s history (the War of 1812), their story is one of heartbreak, renewal, and a joyous Christmas neither will ever forget!
STORY BLURB
Loudoun County, Virginia, 1814.
After a disabling injury sends Daniel Hawkins home from war, he struggles how to provide for his young wife, Maggie and the child she’s carrying. As Christmas approaches, he finds a sheep his grandfather carved and attempts to carve a Nativity set for Maggie. When she goes into labor during a Christmas Eve blizzard, Daniel is forced to face his feelings of inadequacy. And perhaps learn that God has a plan for his life after all.
FOUR UNIQUE TALES
You’ll want to read all four of these unique tales and see how the Lord works His will and way in each of the Hawkins men’s lives as the nativity set takes shape and they celebrate the birth of our Savior.

I haven’t read much about the War of 1812. I’m looking forward to all of these stories!
I didn’t either, Kim. It was interesting to learn more about it. I hope you’ll be blessed by Chiseled on the Heart!
