I’m happy to have writer friend, Pam Meyers sharing an excerpt and thoughts on her new release, Tranquility Point, Book 3 in her historical romance series set in her hometown of Lake Geneva Wisconsin. Plus! She’s offering a Kindle copy of any one book in the series, so stick around!
The excerpt finds Hannah Murphy at her parents’ home, having just read a letter from her fiancé who is in Great Britain. He’s told her he’s now a certified pilot and is about to start flying bombing raids over Brussels. The letter was written three weeks earlier, and she realizes he’s been flying these sorties for a while already.
TRANQUILITY POINT EXCERPT
by Pamela Meyers
A knock came at the door. “Hannah, are you okay?”
“Yes. Mama, come in.”
Her mother stepped into the room, a concerned expression on her face. “I heard you crying clear into the hall. Did Ted have bad news?”
She sat up. “I don’t know if it’s good or bad. He can’t tell me much but, I read between the lines. It appears he’s now certified to fly and is flying what he calls sorties over the enemy. He insists flying a plane is safer than being on the ground. I’m not sure I agree.” She sniffed and blew her nose into her handkerchief. “Guns can shoot down a plane.”
Her mother sat next to her and pulled her into a hug. “I was reading Psalm Ninety-One this morning, and I think it’s a good psalm to read every morning while this war is going on.” She reached over to the nightstand and picked up the Bible, keeping her other arm around Hannah.
Hannah pressed her face into her mother’s shoulder as the sound of the Bible’s thin pages being turned filled the air.
“Here it is. Listen.” Mama’s soft voice rose and fell as she read the soothing words aloud.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.”
Hannah leaned back and looked into her mother’s green eyes. “How do I know I’m dwelling in God’s secret place?”
“Do you live by the commitment you made to Him when you were in grammar school?”
“Yes. Most of the time.”
A soft smile lifted the corners of her mother’s lips. “None of us are perfect. That’s why we need Him every day of our lives. I fully believe He has Ted in the palm of His hand, as he likes to say, and you as well. If it’s His will for Ted to return home and you two to have a life together, it will happen.”
Hannah blinked her tears away. “Why do you always have the right words to say?”
A FAVORITE SCRIPTURE
This scripture is a favorite of mine. I used the King James translation in the book because back then that was the only translation people had available to them. Nowadays, we have so many. And the scripture quoted in the face pages of the novel are from the English Standard Version.
Personally, these words have assured me many times such as when I’m about to have a medical test or am concerned about a loved one who is ill. As I write this, our nation is about to vote in a presidential election and the country is very divided over the issues. It can be a stressful time and these words assure me that no matter what happens God is in control as he always has been and he is always with me.

Hi all, I’m so grateful to Cynthia for inviting me to be on her blog today. I can’t imagine writing a story without weaving in my characters’ faith and the Scripture than encourages them and directs them.
Amen to that! Honored to have you, Pam!
I’d rather vacation near a lake than by the ocean. Because I have only once vacationed by the ocean, I like the lake better.
I agree, Linda. I love a lakeside view, especially in the mountains or surrounded by timber. Thanks for stopping by to enter!

I turn to scripture when I am worried! The series sounds awesome!
Donna, there is nothing so comforting as Scripture, especially in times of worry. I love
Phil. 4: 6-7 and have turned to it so often I have it memorized. Many blessings, to you.
Nothing like God’s word to calm life’s storms and give peace. Thanks, Donna!
